GERMAN TEACHERS START WORKING ON APPLICATION FOR ERASMUS+

On Thursday and Friday this week, the German teachers started working on the application for the new project. As Comenius had been replaced by Erasmus+, many changes had to be recognized.

First of all, the new project has to deal with youth unemployment. Further, the funding will be different. Nevertheless, the project will again run for a two years' period and will be structured very similar.

We managed to complete and submit a so-called "pre-application". The national agency will soon give feedback that might be useful for completing the proper application, which is due in late March.

Hence, we need to meet for a few more times within the next weeks, but we are confident to successfully accomplish this demanding task.

Comenius Corners at IGS Garbsen updated

In today's project meeting, the students were given three tasks:

1. Create photo collages for the comenius corners (we actually have three at our school!).
Two collages were finished and put up, the third will follow next week.

2. Assess the evaluation questionnaires.
Even though the students were working hard, the graphic processing of the evaluation could not be completed. It will however soon be uploaded to the project's website.

3. Write a report for the school website.
This task was assigned to the absent students. Their deadline is Friday next week.

On Sunday every German spent time with his or her own host family. Some students went sailing or to see some parts of Getxo like the old port and the new one or the beach of Ereaga.

Preparations for Comenius week in Września (Poland)

Over a month ago a group of students  willing to take part in the 2nd year of the Comenius project met for the first time. Before they learned if they would take part in this project, they had to answer a few questions in English about the exchange.
After choosing the group, which this year consists of 8 people: 6 girls and 2 boys, students wrote their profiles. Then they were put into pairs with Turkish students and made contact with them.

Last Friday (the seventh of November), Polish group had their third meeting to prepare for the upcoming project week.
In the meeting students talked about the answers to questions contained in the questionnaire about national identity, which had been given the previous week.
Then, all together made a special poster respecting this year's exchange topic, which will be displayed in the Comenius corner. Students were very active and had a lot of great ideas.
At the end of the meeting students and supervising teachers went to take a group photo.

First Comenius meetings in Thessaloniki, Greece

Hello, Kalimera from Greece!

In October 2014 our Comenius team got ready. 15 students participate in the 2nd year of the project about our identity and 4 teachers.

Our students sent their profiles to our partner school in Budapest and after the matching they started communicating with their new friends. They interviewed a number of people of two different generations and they prepared their summaries. They watched the movie "My big fat greek wedding" and took notes about features of our identity. That was fun!

10 days are left and on the 22nd of November we will be flying to Hungary. We can't wait to meet our colleagues and students. The school and the town looks so perfect in the photographs.

Finally, we took a picture during our last field trip in front of the White Tower, the most famous landmark of Thessaloniki, to share it with you.
 Keep up the good work!
